Benji ChangDr. Benjamin "Benji" CHANG is Associate Professor of Equity Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and adjunct faculty at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). He has lectured and collaborated widely at research universities around the Pacific Rim, including as Visiting Scholar to Beijing Normal University, McGill University, and the Queensland University of Technology. He has published in venues such as Curriculum Inquiry, Policy Futures in Education, Theory Into Practice, and Linguistics & Education, and has received distinctions in the areas of pedagogy, literacy, and Asian studies, including from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). Dr. Chang is on the Editorial Board of Teachers College Record and Policy Futures in Education, and is Co-Editor of Critical Inquiry in Language Studies journal. At EdUHK his work has been recognized through the distinctions of "Quality Publication" and "Outstanding Teaching Performance”. Dr. Chang also coordinates The Project for Critical Research on Pedagogy & Praxis (PCRP). A former classroom teacher and hip-hop artist, Dr. Chang earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University.
