The Critical Issues in Education Seminar Series (CIESS) is an annual program of events organized by the PCRP team which brings together international scholars from around the world to address issues of educational equity, social justice, pedagogy, and research methodology, through the application of critical perspectives. Events include research colloquia, guest lectures for courses, school and community site visits, roundtable panels, individual consultations, and seminars for graduate students.
Beginning in 2016, the Series has worked with over 11 schools and community groups, attracted over 500 participants, and collaborated with scholars and educators from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, South Korea, mainland China, and the United States. Participants have included not only university students and faculty, but also early career and veteran teachers, administrators, school and government staff, as well as NGO and community organization leadership.
