Wayne Au
Dr. Wayne Au is Professor in the School of Educational Studies at the University of Washington Bothell. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Policy Studies. He is an editor for the social justice teaching magazine, Rethinking Schools. He has also published in many journals including the Educational Researcher and Harvard Educational Review.
His works on critical approaches to curriculum, policy educational studies and social justice have received high recognition. His book Rethinking Multicultural Education Teaching for Racial and Cultural Justice received the Skipping Stones Multicultural Resources Honor Award in 2010. His scholarship and criticality are also recognized by the William H. Watkins Award for Scholar Activism from the Society of Professors in Education in 2017. In addition, he is a member of the National Council for the Social Studies and Washington State Council for the Social Studies in the United States. He is often interviewed on TV and radio on education matters as well.
